Choose Happy Now!

"Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present." - Jim Rohn

This is a quote I used in my mindfulness class a couple of weeks ago. I really didn't think that much about it at the time, I just enjoyed the concept behind it and of course I am always working on turning my attention to the now. But it has repeated in my head many times over the last couple of days and I invite you to really think about the truth in those words. Reread it and let it sit for a second............... consider what it means to not postpone your joy for the future. I am not sure about you but I often use incentives like future adventures and activities to get me through daily life. It's not a bad approach, not as mindful as it could be though. Especially when life is so unpredictable these days, it is imperative to not postpone my happiness. Instead I have been trying to create my joy every day. (I have even been able to hack daily chores to make them more fun!) Building in daily activities that bring a smile to my face are a necessity now even if they are only 5 or 10 minutes in duration. Believe me there is room/time for you to do the same.

And on top of having daily fun activities I continue to work on mindfulness. Giving my complete and undivided attention to the present moment. Working on my awareness of what I see, feel, hear, taste, touch and smell. I encourage you to do the same. Try to work on being centered in the moment, not waiting for something special to happen in the future. And just like the quote above says, design your happiness for the present. IT IS POSSIBLE (it just takes work)...Choose to Be Here Now and create your happiness in this moment.
